Jane Brindley Hypno-psychotherapy

Welcome to the website of Jane Brindley Hypno-psychotherapy.

I am an experienced therapist and work from my base in Dollar in the Ochil Hills.  After graduating from St Andrews University in 1982 I trained as a nurse and midwife and worked mainly as a community midwife in Edinburgh, Kent and Stirling.  In 2001 I began my training to be a Hypno-psychotherapist with the well respected National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy and gained my diploma in 2004 after completing my dissertation on the use of hypnosis in sport - particularly horse riding.

I am a full member of the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists (NRHP).  I am fully insured and adhere to the code of ethics of the NRHP.  This includes a committment to continuing professional development (CPD).   I am a member of the National College Student and Alumnus Guild (NCSAG) and through this body am registered with the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations (UKHCO).   I am also registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

As part of my CPD I have recently completed a course in Neuro- Lingiustic Programming (NLP) and have been awarded Practitioner in NLP status (March 2009).  In 2009/10 I attended courses with Mindfields College on ' Breaking the Cycle of Depression Without Drugs' and 'The Fast Trauma (PTSD) and Phobia Cure'.  In 2011 I worked on upgrading my presentation skills with a view to giving more talks, to interested groups, on this fascinating subject.  In the Autumn of 2011 I gave a series of talks to groups of horse riders on the theme of 'Horse Riding with Confidence'.

I have been practising hypno-psychotherapy since qualifyng and have built up my practice working with clients from all over Scotland who come to see me with a wide variety of issues and difficulties.  (See services page for a summary of conditions which this type of therapy can help).

The aim of this site is to allow you to find out more about the services which I offer and about how these might be able to help you.

Please browse the site and then feel free to contact me in confidence if you wish to make an appointment or find out more.

Press Release Feb 2011

A Dollar based hypnotherapist has become one of the first in the country to achieve a new national standard of excellence or her therapy.

Jane Brindley has been registered by the Complentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the UK regulator for complementary healthcare.

This places her at the forefront of a national drive to proide a benchmark for standards and safety for the public.  Practitioners registered with the CNHC meet national occupational standards and abide by a rigorous code of conduct, performance and ethics.

Jane Brindley said 'Achieving this is not only great news for me and my clients, but a vital step for hypnotherapy'.  Members of the public can search the CNHC register to find practitioners in their local area.  Hypnotherapy is one of 11 disciplines now recognised by the CNHC.

By providing a verification of standards, the CNHC allows GPs, hospitals and private healthcare providers and insurance companies to refer patients to hypnotherapy practitioners or to make hypnotherapy more readily available in health centres, clinics, doctors' surgeries and hospitals.
